SPeedo reading

Yesterday my speedo needle jumped up to maximum and stopped there but the milometer is still working. Could this still be the cable or is it the speedo itself as it was over reading by around 8mph before the fault.


Also in the same week my intsrument lighting inlcuding switches etc has stopped coming on with the lights. Could there be an electricalgremlin causing both problems or just coincidence?

There is a spare fuse in the form of a bulb holder coloured Red on the.
back of the instrument cluster, specifications are different for cars with air con and cruise and have a control box to dim the display

The speedometer is shaft driven so the instrument cluster will have to come out.

To go any further I do need your first 6 numbers of the VIN ie 124091
