im thinking of doing something a bit adventurous , im contemplating removing the dash on my car , then some how either removing the speedo/kph clock or just the plastic surround , then scanning the kph clock at high quality.
after this ill use a protractor and some maths to work out where the mph marks should be and adding them in on photoshop or something similar. after which ill take the saved image to a high quality printer and reproduce it onto a sticky high quality paper/card , carefully cut out holes and sticking it over old dials but keeping the amg logo and original look. any suggestions ideas about this would be a great help and how to go about removing speedo

The biggest snag will be calibrating the speedo once you have taken the needle off

Legoman,

I've done this with an old Granada I had a few years ago. Calibrated it with a military GPS that I borrowed out of an Army Lynx!

Doesn't help you get your speedo out, but at least you can rest assured that a professional job can be done....nobody could ever tell which instrument I'd changed...

As I've got a CE too, I'd be interested to know if getting the speedo out is a five minute job, or a 5 hour one..

Well if you are going to go ahead, then the cluster just pushes out from the rear, then the cover comes off and you can unplug the speedo, maybe you could mark the spindle so that the needle can go back in the correct place

Thats a good idea from PaulG
