Hi,

Sorry if I am off on a tangent, however can anyone explain how you work speedtronic (seen it mentioned a few posts previous to this)?

I have a C270CDI Auto SE and I know it has cruise control and speedtronic, however I have only managed to grasp cruise control. I have had a read at the manual however it reads like HiFi instructions :)

Thanks,
John

if it's like ours

you press the stalk in, like an old Ford horn, and the light in the stalk lights up ( yellow). The dash " Lim" warning light also lights up. The system is passive now, and you have to set the speed limit. Flip the stalk up,and you will see the screen in your instruments display a speed to the nearest 5mph above your current speed. Flip the stalk up to increase this by 5mph increments, or down to decrease it. I don't know how it goes for setting it to a speed lower than that you are actually doing, as I've never tried that. To disarm, just press the stalk button in again. It doesn't have any memory like the c/c. You will also see the set limit speed displayed at the bottom of the digital display in the dash, in whichever menu screen you are.

Also if you pull it towards you it will increase in 1mph increments

You'll find it a horrible sensation to drive.

Full power up to the set speed limit and then nothing.

I just can't shake the feeling that somethings wrong with the engine, even though I know that its the effect of the limiter.

it does feel like you've run out of fuel. True, rather unpleasant as it ignores the pedal. Ilso be aware that kick down cancels it.

Do remember that it can only keep you at a speed if the road conditions allow. A steep hill and the auto will change down to try to control the speed but it can still be overwhelmed.
The 211 with SBC puts its brakes on to keep you on the set speed when necessary which is brilliant but I presume that since they've done away with sbc thats gone now -

...
or I suppose that ESP has the same capability so do the new models still do this?

I find it brilliant where a gatso follows 100yds or so after traffic lights (common round here). Everyone gingerly drives off so they don't get flashed. With the limiter set you can drive off normally, leaving everyone behind and know you'll be ok.

Unless you put your foot all the way down....

Not sure if mine uses the brakes on speed limiter or not, I've not followed myself to check if the lights are on.
