Having just posted (yesterday) that I have no problems on the C280 (1994) elegance I've just bought imagine my amazement that there now seems to be the creaky, bumpy noise coming from the front suspension (both sides).
This certainly didn't occur when I drove the car prior to purchase. I went to some length to jolt the car (while testing ) to identify any such problem.
Happens also when each wing is pushed down and left to return. Shocker travel appears to be normal but I also noticed today slightly higher wear on the fns outer tyre edge.
Bushes or ball joints or a combination?
The car is running on 15" alloys, pick and mix 195 65 r15's (2 to be changed).
I reckon the car may also have been lowered slightly too?
Any suggestions?
Andy.

I am sure there was a problem prior to your purchase with the bushes, and the previous owner knew about it, i bet he sprayed them with oil.

its not a major problem, just one of those things thats in need of replacing.

Hi There, my wifes car is a 1999 C180, which had the same symptoms at the front which you discribed as creaking noises, it was noticed mainly over speed bumps.
There are 2 bushes either side of the engine on the Anti Roll Bar.
Undo & remove both the clamps & with WD40 slide the bushes along enough to clean & then grease. Also clean & grease the clamps.
To re fit the clamp you may need to jack back up the anti roll bar, i did this with a scissor jack turning it by HAND ONLY just to align the mounting brackets one at a time This has cleared our problem & is squeeky clear

I'm sure there was as the noise is too pronounced for it to have just occurred.
I'll have a look this week and work out what's gone.
I'll check the anti roll bar bushes but it's possibly more than that as the noise is present most of the time. But having said that it's hardly surprising with the state of Sheffield's roads!
Cheers for the advice.
