Have replaced rear pads and discs and had to disconnect rear callipers as pins could not easily be removed.
Have reassembled re-fitted and bled brake callipers but pedal is spongy as though there air in the system.Any ideas on how to solve would be much appreciated.

If the pedal is still spongy there must be air in the system still, it does require bleeding all round with at least 9 pumps to the furthest one away and 4 pumps to the front

I also had problems bleeding the brakes on my W210, its best to bleed so much fluid through each bleed valve that you are effectively doing a fluid change, you will get there in the end, just make sure you pump plenty of fluid through. I've never had this problem on any other car, usually a couple of pumps does the trick.
