Just buy the parts from a dealer in the UK or Germany. All the part numbers are known quantities

You could look for an aftermarket kit but I think you're liable to spend similar money with unknown results

If you want aftermarket I recommend Bilstein shocks. They do a Comfort shock and a more performance-oriented model, and probably about 17,000 other options too

If you're going to fit 17" rims (or bigger) then you're going to add more variables to the mix and it gets even more difficult to suggest parts or predict the outcome

The sportline suspension is not standard part numbers at all.

It depends on your particular car's spec ie. what extras it has on it.

Each extra item, over the standard car build, has a point allocated to it and is dependent on the weight of the item.

eg. Sunroof 3 points

air conditioning 5 points

electric seats 3 points

etc etc etc

So, you need to go to a dealer with your car VIN and he will know what your car spec is from that, and therefore know how many points extra to the standard spec your car is.

He will then look at a long list of springs and look against one that has the appropriate number of points against it.

It is complicated and the dealers often cannot help.

You can do one of two things;

1. Find a sportline owner car with the same spec as yours (have same extras) and give the dealer the VIN of that car to order the springs.

2. Go to an aftermarket supplier of suspension ie. Eibach or H&R.

I believe Eibach designed for AMG.

IF you go for the US kit it is likely to be wrong, because the 220 was never sold there and nearly all their cars have all the extras and have heavier engines and need stiffer springs, so you would find the ride very hard indeed.

Hope this helps.

I thought that all the Euro car manufacturers soffened up the ride on US spec models. I've been told on several occasions by US servicemen over here that the Euro cars ride stiffer model for model. Can anyone confirm? I like the idea of a complete swap of all the supsension thingys particularly if its a matched set.
