Hi to everyone, this is my first post and hope someone can help me.

While driving or stationery with engine running, the van suddenly stalls.
The EDC Light comes on and stays on. After a short while the Engine will trun over but not actually start.

Checked the fuel filter, unscrewd the drain plug, no water or fuel!

I know there is fuel, just put in £30's worth.

Sometimes after stalling the van will start after a few minutes, but last time no joy, just sat there in traffics and waited for recovery.

your help is much appreciated, local garage has tried, but could not find fault.

thanks

Just check the wiring loom in the engine bay, especially where it's cable tied to the engine mount (passenger side) cut the cable tie and see if the loom has been rubbing on the mount also follow the loom up to the inlet manifold where it is again cable tied, cut the cable tie and inspect the loom.

If it has rubbed through for a temp fix you can use water pipe lagging to insulate it and prevent the loom rubbing on the engine mount and manifold mount. It's only a temp fix as over time with the damp conditions eventually the wiring begins to corrode.

thanks for that ill inspect the wiring tomorrow.

the other thing i forgot to mention was that the clear fuel line which runs from the top center of fuel filter is showing alot of air bubbles, my mechanic said that it is normal, but i would think that fuel and air do in a fuel pipe could cause stalling. or am i off the mark.

thanks

It is normal to see small air bubbles rushing through the center fuel filter pipe. Though the seal on the center fuel filter pipe can sometimes cause a problem when it's worn and starts sucking in air. Also have had faulty fuel filters especially the non genuine filters.
