Hi all
Have had long pedal / spongy brakes for some time but now have failed Mot on Spongy brakes, but passed effecency test,

As van need brake hoses and rear pipes , the brake balancing valve was changed. Master cylinder was changed for good measure.
all brake discs in good condition , all calipers stripped and copper eased.

full bleed of system at least 3 times but still have spongy brakes and pedle goes down to floor , how ever if pedal is hit firmly at 60 van stops well with the abs working well no locking of wheels.

with engine running keeping your foot on pedal it sinks right down to the floor

any ideas ?

Hi Andrew, Sounds as though you have either air in the system somewhere, despite the bleeding operations, or fluid being forced past a worn seal or valve in the abs unit or some other pressure regulating valve if there is such a thing in the system. How about air being trapped in a caliper?. You could try clamping off each flexible hose at each wheel in turn and see if the pedal creep is still there.
