Is this a common problem. I had no warning of it getting worse, just suddenly crunch, it is definately when turning fairly tight corners mini roundabouts etc.I assume this job is for MB trained mechanic. Thanx for the replys i suppose it could be worse.

I would doubt it is the cables but if you want to check pull the gaiter away from the dash, go underneath and on the ends of the gear lever cables there are two ball joints. Lift the locking clips and return to the lever. Look at the gear lever mechanism and you will see a small hole. Insert a 6mm allen key into the hole and with the gear lever in neutral pust the allen key in to centralise the lever. Go back underneath and push the ball joint clips back into place. Remove the allen key and heypresto you have reset the cables.

I would first renew the gear oil but ensure it is the MB part numbered oil as this is the only stuff that should be used on this and all Sprinter Vito gearboxes. If this fails to sort the problem out I would suggest a strip down and replacement of the syncros. Easy job with a puller and press.

Surly it would happen all the time if it was a syncro problem, or oil related. And it would start gradually not over night. Also as i said it only happens when i turn corners not when iam going forwards.I live in swindon wilts any body know a good indepent mec in the area. Thanx again for all replies.
