Hi everyone, first post and its a question Im afraid.
I've got a 1998 Sprinter 310d, now my problem apears to be the oil level warning light, this came on the other day even though the level was fine then went off shortly afterwards (I had pulled up at this point). Initially I suspected a faulty sensor however the engine also sounded 'rough' when the light was on but fine when it went off again.
Since then I changed the oil and filter just incase and even though it wasnt due. Unfortunately the problem persists, light on with rough sounding engine the it would go off and be fine.

Any ideas?

Hi, oil pressures fine already tested it and the oil pressure lamp goes out instantly when the engine starts with no flickering even when hot.

Thats what I was hoping for, my only concern is why it sounds rough with the light. I cant locate the level switch even on the WIS. I did wonder if it went into a limp mode when the light was on but am unsure how complex the engine management system is on these early models ie has it actually got a limp home mode
