I have had this problem on 2 of our fleet of sprinters, in both cases it was the PAS cooler causing the problem.
disconnect the cooler by removing the hoses from it, and linking them up.

Problem is generally caused by the mounting clips trapping water and rusting through the cooler pipe, strangely it causes the noise by drawing air into the system, although no fluid leaks are apparent.

Hope this helps.

There is valves in both the pump and rack that could cause this noise, however, pull the steering rack boot back abit and see if you can see signs of fluid here. They some times wear and leak very slightly, but also suck air in causing the same symptoms as the cooler.

Hi
Well done.
Did you find anything wrong with the high pressure hose ?
Do you think it might have been low on fluid as well ?
