Mercedes Sprinter 416CDI – VIN WDB9046132R76924
Engine Serial # - 6129815107038
Delivered – 24.5.05
Kilometres – 224,309

Problem –
Occasionally the vehicle becomes locked in the “Park” position.
After varying periods of time and much fiddling of controls the locking mechanism does release and it is possible to drive the vehicle.
On every occasion that this has occurred the motor always starts and runs and all indication lights appear to be normal.

1 – What causes this gear lever to lock in the “Park” position ?

2 – Is the locking mechanism “Electrical” or “Mechanical ?

3 – What controls the locking mechanism ?

4 - Is the control in the “Gear Box” or “in the “Consul” behind the gear stick ?

5 – Should this “Locking Mechanism” be lubricated in some manner ?

6 – If it requires to be “Lubrication” how should it be lubricated ?

7 – What lubricant should be used ?

8 – Is there a recommended method of releasing the locking mechanism ?

9 – Please supply a copy of a wiring diagram for the vehicle ?

10 – Is there a recognized agent / repairer for servicing and repairs in the Northern Territory ?

Regards
