Sprinter: Loose Wing Mirror

Hi there. The driver's side, rear-view wing mirror on my Sprinter flaps around like an elephant's ear. I tried tightening the torx screw but to no effect - it wasn't loose anyhow.

How do I fix this common 'Sprinter' problem?

I think you will have to get a new hinge/mount. The mirror assembly comes in three pieces, the head, the arm and the mounting bracket. I can't imagine it would cost more than £20. at 120k my drivers mirror has a small amount of play (maybe 2-3 degrees but not loose yet) and I assume it will get worse as that is the door that is used all the time and often gets folded in when parking on busy roads.

Phone your nearest merc commercial dealer first, it'll probably be cheaper than you think and a second hand one will likely be half way to being the same as yours!

I got a complete new electric heated mirror from Europarts for £25 inc VAT.

I'll second the idea of phoning the dealer, particularly with this sort of item. Its unlikely the part you require will be expensive enough for the breakers price to be significantly cheaper.

that reminds me. my N/S one has a bit of play in it, not too bad yet.
