It is the same length as the old one...

Bob,
You could wrap it around one of the pulleys a couple of times to take up the slack:lol:    But seriously, it should be obvious. V belts are normally shorter than poly vee belts and the route should not have any variations - I assume it's the correct length? I'll check out the WIS.

V belt?

Thanks for that, I suppose it's not a "V" belt as such but a flat belt (poly)? The new one was the same length as the old one.

V belt

Bob, if it is the same length as the old one, it will fit, trust me.

You have to really look at the pulley's and figure it out, on some models, the belt is fed back on itself between the pulley's, a good tip for next time is to draw a diagram of the belt route, might even help if you sketch the pulley's now, and figure it out on paper.

run the belt round the outside of all pullies and bring it up from bottom between crank and fan pullies then loop over tensioner, presume you have tensioner slackened off

the rule with mercs is that the belt always hits the fan pulley twice...

ok - on a 602.940 engine:-

starting at alternator - go to top of water pump. across to power steering, round it and down (8 o clock) to crankshaft. almost all the way round and wrap around (almost all the way) round the tensioner (small one)

then back UNDER the water pump and back to the alternator.
