I have a 2008 Mercedes sprinter van which will not start.
The appear to be a problem beforehand with the starter motor not sound quite right and then a few days later it popped a fuse in the main fuse box. Few days past and then popped another at this time under the driver seat
Remove the starter motor and greased up with copper grease fired it up and all seems well. However soon after it reverted to the initial problem. It felt like maybe I held the key in the start position slightly too long possibly?
I’ve checked all the fuses and tested all the relays and they all appear fine. The battery is good.
There is a loud clicking noise when you turn ignition coming presumably from the start relay under the dash followed by three or four audible clicks from the engine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
