squeaky roof SL55

Just purchased an SL55 which I have to say is a fantastic car.....one problem thats driving me nuts.....the roof is very squeaky ( flexing) over uneven ground....is this normal......thanks in advance to anyone who can help

Welcome with your SL55,,its not normal and I will see what info I have later in the day,,you say it creaks but does not knock

its not knocking...but a constant flexing/squeaking....much worse over rough ground......thanks for your quick response

There is a special lubricant available from mb to help stop this. Just rub it on the seals when the roof is half up. I don't have the part number tho.

Then to apply this rubber lubricant you need a piece of wood board/plank about 12" long.

Open the roof and stop it when it is a little way open at the front,,place the wood at the top of A pillar on the soft lining and the other end just under the lip on the roof and pull the roof towards the front where it will rest,,the key will chime a few times but just ignore that and remove it.

Like this you can get to every rubber seal on the car
