HI My SRS light comes on and goes out after about 1-2 Minutes, it used to go out as manual would say (2 Seconds after ignition on). Is there a reset for this or anyone have any ideas, car is a 1995 C180 Auto.

SRS Light

Hi Robbo,
I have exactly the same problem with my 1995 C250 W202. It started when I had a fault on the ignition switch, the connector on the back of the switch came partly off, causing all the accessories to fail. After refitting the connector all was OK except the SRS light, which like yours stays on for 1/2 mins after start. Anyone know of a reset ?

If the SRS light stays on for 2 mins after startup it means you have a non critical fault, the SRS is still functioning but you should have the codes read and the faults cleared.

After the UHI phone system was fitted to

my ML, the SRS light came on as you describe. Once I connected the diagnostics equipment to it, it reported a power short fault, which after performing an ERASE operation, has never come back. Looks like the slightest spark or problem (ie. have you disconnected your battery or run it flat?) can cause a fault, as I also read out no end of other faults, all down to equipment being disconnected.

Safest bet, get the code read out and reset, then ignore, unless it re-occurs.

C200 SRS light stays on for 1 to 2 minutes

I have exactly the same problem. I've had my C200 for 14 years and cant remember when it worked properly. Always stays on for approx 2 minutes after turning ingnition on.

Once I paid for a reset at the dealership. Ever since I've ignored it, even MB say it may be something silly like slightly worn contacts on the steering wheel.

Anyway, I always tell the MOT people it goes off after 2 minutes "through design", and I always get a pass.

Are there any diagnostic kits at reaonable prices available? or anything that plugs into a PC?
