AFter disconnecting the Airbag to (remove the steering wheel to get the console out to) change some console bulbs, my 1994 C250D keeps the SRS light on for exactly 2 minutes before going out. I've previously been stung with switching on the ignition with the airbag disconnected, so I definately didn't switch the ignition on while it was disconnected this time. The only thing I did wiht the airbag disconnected was switch on the lights. The last time I got stung the SRS light would stay on as long as the igniton was switched on, so what's it telling me this time by staying on for 2 minutes?

it says in the book...

if the key in the streeing lock is turned to position 1 or 2, the indicator lamp comes on for approx.4 seconds..
if it fails to come on or GO OUT or if it flickers or comes on while driving there is a fault in the system. The restraint system "SRS" however is not activted by this fuilt, they neverthless recommend you, in such a case to consult a Mercedes-Benz service station with out delay and have the "SRS" inspected. otherwise there arises the danger of the "SRS not being activates during an accident.

it also says...
No modifications of any kind may be made to any components or to the wiring of the "SRS",

it sounds like, doing anything around the steering wheel airbag, is abit of a problem..you'd think replacing a bulb should have been made an easy job. why can't they put the bulbs within easy reach...
