srs unit repair

Still messing about with the srs control unit. I tried a second hand one but merc benz could not over ride the vin number and code mine in. they say it can't be done. has anybody had any dealings with a company called revtronic. They say they can repair the old unit and they did say it had to be the original unit fitted to the car. I don't know whether to go down this route or just bite the bullet and buy a knew one from merc. It galls me to be forced to go to merc but they seem to have closed all the alternatives. regards AA

there is a company in westyorks who do nothing else but repair any make of airbag /srs ecu's, you send yours and they fix it usualy by next day, they are trustworthy and give a guarantee.

if it were mine I'd repair it - no brainer really.
These things are often nothing more serious than a bit of dry solder or a blown 10p resistor. Would you throw out an expensive TV without at least having an repair man look at it? Why should your control unit be any different?

i agree, we fixed my sons astra dti engine ecu,just a dry joint, but if your not that brave send it to someone with the software to find the fault and fix it, it can't be as expensive as a new MB fitted one.

HI Padraig, spoke to the airbag people but he is not hopeful of a repair, they mostly reset units from cars that have had the airbags deployed. My unit is faulty but is not from a crashed car. He is going to try but no promises. Fingers crossed. Will let you know the outcome. AA
