Hi All,

I changed the battery on my C220 (2001) WDB203 during the week.
When I connected the new battery everything worked fine but the computer now puts up the SRS warning as a malfunction. I presume that it's do do with the power having been disconnected.

Does anyone know if there is a way to cancel this warning or would it have to done at a Mercedes dealer.

Regards,

The SRS has detected a voltage fault due to changing the battery with the key still in the ignition. The key must be removed when doing this. You could try disconnecting the battery again (key removed) & leave for 5 mins but it will probably need the fault memory erased.

Thanks Type49 did as you suggested but the warning remains.
I'll have to take it to a main dealer to get it removed.

Another problem is my air conditioning isn't blowing cold. Had the system re-gassed and checked for leaks. What do you think it's likely to be, and is the MB diagnostics likely to find the fault.

Kind regards,

I would be looking at the condensor as the problem if you have a leak. Split the rad and condensor apart and look down it with a torch. Look for an oily area at the bottom.

A diag done by a dealer or a specialist and they should find the problem.

Thanks BlackC55,

Should have said on the last post that there is no leak.

Don't know if your system is the same as the slk but sometimes when the battery has been removed you have to start the car and turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then right a few times slowly to reset the system for the steering angle
The air con could be the pressure switch on the receiver/drier try and switch the system on then disconnect the multi plug on the drier to see if the compressor spins if it does but stops after only a few seconds then reconnect the multi plug. if it then stops again it is a faulty pressure switch
hope this helps

I was just going to say turn the wheel fully lock to lock either 3 or 4 times and it should clear but Peter beat me to it.

This will not effect SRS. This is to repragram the steering angle sensor which is linked to ABS/BAS/ESP warning lights.

Yes you do have to do this to shut off the ABS/BAS/ESP light but the thread says SRS light on.
