Not sure what you have tried but the connector under the seat can become disconnected (lose continuity) so that would be the first check. If the connection is good then the seatpad/sensor is next.

I read some where that you can bypass the sensor at the connection and fool, the system into thinking that the seat sensor is OK and thus normal airbag operation will in force.

Although we would never need to put a kiddies seat in the front of the car (may be illegal is some countries nor anyway) I felt the need to fix the problem and get it back to original working spec.

The thread below will give you what you need for replacement of the MB part on a DIY basis.

Substitute any reference to w208 for your car.

I seem to recollect that the new part cost around Euro €90.00 (approx £65.00)

As an aside. There was no need to have anything reset by the MB workshop as, after the repair was completed, the srs warning light went out of it own accord.

thanks for advice, had a quick look this morning, removed the seat and had a quick poke around but could not see anything obvious underneath.
can u tell me how to remove the seat cover as it was a really snug fit and i did not want to force anything...when i refitted the seat i tried applying pressure to various parts of the seat and managed to get the light to go out but only by pushing hard down with my knee,as soon as i released the heavy pressure the light came back on,
do you know any more about the bypass fix? cheers andy
