I have a 2yr Old C-Class (C-180). I have now had two sets of Link Arms, it's about to have it's second lot of role bar bushes. It's also had a new stearing Rack! :(

Aparantly the link arms and bushes is a common problem/design fault?

Am I alone on this one???

link arms

Hi Deejay

I assume your model is a 203 C class if so YES it is a common problem link arms have been modified several times and I think the current ones are OK but as for anti roll bar bushes these have also been modified several time and I believe that the latest mod is only a temp fix.

Christ almighty!!

Hardly the most technical aspect of a car to design properly.

"o/s/r light units on 210's"? Hadn't heard about that one. What's the issue?

They have crappy connections and show bulb blown. I believe this affected early cars and yours should be ok.
When I asked about this once my dealer didn't know what I was talking about.

Hi

poor contacts on bulb holder and light unit create heat which melts the plastic on the light unit, giving intermitant rear light/ brake light problems.

This fault has been known to stop the engine on 300 diesels when the brake pedal is actuated

I had my anti-roll bar bushes and the drop link arms replaced last year at 35,000m.

When I told the service manager what I thought the problem was, he looked at me and rolled his eye's as if I did'nt know what I was talking about.

When I picked the car up he muttered that I was correct and it was the bushes. Could'nt help but say "Told you".

The car is a 1997 E- Class, which has been driven gently all it's life.
