I had a problem with my 300te stalling regularly at idle with the engine hot.when this happened i would have to wait about 40 mins for the engine to cool down before it would restart.
I replaced coil, coil lead, and fuel filter. I ignored the distributor cap because it was only a year old.
when i finally took off the distributor cap it was found to be the cause of the problem. The centre carbon contact was seized (it should move in and out on a spring) so it was only contacting the rotor arm intermittently.
This cap had been sourced from Euro Car parts. It was Brembi and not bosch.
I got a new bosch distributor cap - problem solved.
I would recomend anyone replacing a distributor cap to use bosch only.
Also when fault finding never assume that something which you know to be a new part to be functioning correctly.
