Start fail

I Have a 2006 r230 350. The car has decided not to start until after I pull an orange relay on the passenger side fuse box under the bonnet and plug it back in. Then the car starts. Switch off and then back to square one. Please can someone tell me what the relay is and what it does and if this is some symptom of a problem with the SAM?
If someone has the part number of the relay that would be great so I can see if its just knackered.

Maybe get another relay from MB parts dept and see if that resolves it ?
Any fault codes on the car ?

yep that's why I would have liked the part number as i have accounts with car part suppliers who tend to be cheaper than Merc dealers but if its not available elsewhere that's what I shall do. My iCarsoft MB3 gives a code on the SAM_PASS

Is the relay listed on the fuse chart , which on my car is folded up in the end of dashboard fuse box .

The sam wont be available aftermarket
you can try your luck second hand

This sort of fault is usually internal to the sam (pulling the relay down all the time). The fault code is telling too.
