starter clicking

Hi all
jumped in me car yesterday and click nothing happenend turned ignition off and tried again started no problem
today first thing started no problem then later same problem just clicking then started but took about ten minutes of clicking ........anybody any ideas sounds loke starter to me but could it be just the solinoid needing a clean ....1999 c200 auto

It sounds very much like the starter, very common on the 203 model, time will tell as it will just get worse if its the starter!

thanks sam thought it was dead strange tho got home after a good run out an tried it twice with no problem oh well time to dig in me pocket lol
is it an easy change

Yes but the top bolt can be a pig to get to, long extension is a must!

I had same problem on my car.. since I run a live connection to it direct from the battery using jump leads and long screw driver I seemed to have given it the shock of life??... 2 years straight now no problems lol.

But seriously, try taking it off and just giving it a clean up... sometimes it's just down to rusted/dirty connections not getting a proper earth even :)

ye thamks for that been trouble free for two years but raining up here today so maybe it will have to wait a week or so
