Starting issues on sprinter

I have a starting issues with my sprinter. Sometimes the dash lights and full gauge illuminate but then go out. Sometimes it just starts.
Sometimes when it starts it has error messages, like esp fault, brake force distribution fault.
I have swapped the relays in the passenger side fuse box .
Removed and refitted the engine to body earth strap.

There is an electronic steering lock emulator fitted. The fault is present whether it is connected or not.

Any help would be appreciated

Hello, just had a read of your thread. I'm experiencing the same issues, I have also replaced the relays and ground strap. It's driving me crackers, the more mine warms up the less she wants to do. If I start her cold she rattles but starts let her warm up and bit and she takes more effort to start, warmer still and she doesn't want to know at all. All lights come on, turn key and just a single turn over and that's it, nothing. I'm totally baffled. Twice now I driven her over 50 miles away and she has refused to start when I have set off home. She does start but I have to let the engine cool down, which can lead to sitting there for over an hour. Anyway, you aren't on your own. I shall post in here if I get the the bottom of it.
