Right guys.
Bear with me as my mechanical knowledge isn't amazing!
In the mornings, after our 124 E280 has been sitting all night, it seems very difficult to start up. You have to give the throttle a bit of a prod to get it going.
When it does start up, in P & N, revving it causes it to misfire slightly. Upon first starting it, there is a puff of blue smoke.
However, when it's running, it runs very smoothly indeed and is faultless in doing so!
The fuel consumption is a little high, but then I am used to a 1.6HDi Picasso before this so it's a tall order really.
The oil pressure and temperature are all ok.
I'm going to give it a service and see if it helps. I'm going to have someone do the plugs for me, but the rest I'll do myself. Do you need to replace the Dizzy cap or do these have a distributor cap (Sorry, I'm only used to using old 80's Vauxhall Engines and home servicing them!).
I've noticed steam coming from the exhaust, not excessively, and have seen other bigger engined cars doing it.
I'm taking this as normal (M3's, S320's and so on all do it when it's cold).
Any advice for me?
Stu.
