Hello,

I would just like to find out if the grease which is used on some Mercedes to allow the starter motor to work is available to purchase separately.

The problem is when the key is turned it just clicks. The key is the electronic brick type. The car is a C240 elegance, S registration 1998 I believe.

Thanks for any help,

Daniel.

Your Mercedes
2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
You do need a volt meter,Is the battery OK, test, headlamps on and turn key to start, If headlamps go out, its battery
The click could be the starter relay closing, with a volt meter you could check that the 12volts is going to the starter from the relay, when the key is turned to start. If 12volts on small cable on stater motor, it is the starter at fault, if no 12 volts it is the N10 relay at fault.

Sorry I made a mistake I am after the silver metallic grease used for lubricating the flywheel.

I am having trouble of getting hold of it from the dealer and would like to find out if it is available elsewhere or if there is an alternative grease.

Thanks for your reply,

Daniel.
