steady yellow engine management light

not used my cls much due to shielding, but when i drive it now after about 15 mins i get steady eml come on, it resets each time by turning on and off 3 times

To find the reason it will need codes read by a decent code reader.

Without that it could be a guess of a couple of dozen things.

Don't think I've ever heard of a catalytic converter failure on an MB diesel...
Hope your correct mate it’s only 3 yrs old and covered 14000 miles

Probably... is exactly why it needs the codes read. It could be a “simple” sensor.

find your self a reputable MB Indy local to you with the correct diagnostics
