I have a 1991 230T - recently both brakes and steering seem to need more effort to operate, can anyone tell me - is there one pump providing assistance to both funtions? And is it an expensive job to replace- I don't have the ability to do repairs, and a local garage will do it.
I'd be grateful for any advice.
Thanks.GDB

Not connected.

Has car been sitting around unused ?

Tyre pressures need checking, could be low and therefore greater effort to make turns.

Is steering fluid up to level - perhaps needs topping up.

Have you been ill in bed - perhaps you have become weaker.

more effort

Thanks for the advanced technical suggestions.
And your concern about my health- thank you again, I'm still grinning.
