steering column adjustment

According to my handbook all I have to do to adjust the steering column is press the buttons next to the seat adjuster, trouble is, I dont have any! :cry:
I cant see any way of manually adjusting it so what can I do? There must be a way of adjusting it. I cant remember the last time I drove a car that didn't have an adjustable steering wheel.

Or am I just being dumb and have overlooked something obvious?

If you dont have the buttons, then id assume you dont have the option fitted to your car.

Various models have different mechanisms and some, like mine, have no adjustment at all (never needed it though). What model and year?
