Steering Creak

My W126 300SE has developed a creak when turning the steering wheel more than 1/4 of a turn. It sounds like a bush, any suggestions?

Lower ball joints are a faverourite.

Sounds like a dry joint of some kind

I had the same problem on my w201, and it was the ball joint running dry

blackc55, i shall be calling you this morning! i have a weird problem with an a class, manual, its had the air flow replaced (very common fault) now wont tick over and stinks of cat.

Fault traced and found, worn steering idler bushes.

Replaced by J Haynes down the road from me today, very pleased with the service, even if their labour charge is a tad high.
