Steering issue

After driving on a motorway for a couple of hours my steering develops a weird issue…..when turning the wheel there resistance then clears……it’s also intermittent
Any ideas?

Is it lane keeping assist set on high?

Lane assist was off
It occurred when after a couple of hours driving I pulled into motorway services….when I left it happened and then around 70mph overtaking
