Can anyone recommend a brand, website or supplier for leather steering wheel covers.
The previous owner of my 98 C250TD Elegance must have either:
a) Chewed the top of the steering wheel
& or
b) Wore a lot of rings and didn’t drive with hands 10 to 2!

I knew it was worn, but was surprised when the worn area turned into a 2 inch slit!

Looking for something that looks like the original smooth black leather -not the narrow strip wind round & round type!

I will be trading in the car in the near future, need to get the hole hidden for as little money as I can -the compromise between some thing too cheap & looking crappie & something lovely & expensive has to be balanced.

Cheers in advance
Orlando

Your Mercedes
Was an E300TD, now a Lexus LS400
I'd take it to an upholsterer. The one I've used in the past is in Cheshire which obviously is nowhere near you, but they're very good at what they do.

www.martrim.co.uk

Try and find someone like them, and you won't be disappointed.

Cheers will have a look for some one similar in Edinburgh -need the edge of the seat repaired aswell -previous owner must have had a utility belt aswell!

Did find this site:
http://www.wheelskins.com/index.php

Any one seen or used a wheelskin? -they are only $43 (about £25) on ebay, including delivery from accross the pond.

Wheelskins

I used one of these on my last car (Volvo S80) and found it really good. Delivery from the US in 3 or 4 days with no hassle. Took around 20 minutes to fit.

Hope this helps!

Wheelskins are Great!

Cheers Hutch!
Already got one off ebay, interestingly it came direct from wheelskins themselves but was about $20 cheaper! the total cost was only £22!

In case anyone is interested the sellers ebay name is autoupgradenet (and no they arent my cousin!).

Must say it was a right pain to fit, took me an hour & a half, with a few cuts from the thread. They go on about their patented re-inforcement & it works, you can really pull on the thread to get it tight.

The result I am very happy with, my brother in law thought that it was meant to be there, but then again he drives a Jaguar, he wouldnt know better ;-)
