Hi everyone,
I’m a 2007 C200 (W204) owner.
A week ago, my car wouldn't start in my garage. Initially, I thought it was due to a flat battery. I called roadside assistance, but the engineer ruled out a battery problem. I then discovered that the steering wheel is locked.
I believe this is a common fault on the W204, possibly related to the Electronic Steering Lock (ESL), or it might be some kind of anti-theft lock!? Two weeks ago, my key battery ran out, and I used the emergency physical key to open the door. (I'm not sure if this action inflenced the lock). The dashboard is on when the key in, and the key remote functions are working fine. I checked on YouTube, and there are some basic methods to unlock the steering wheel by shaking (turning) it while turning the key and also checked the manual. However, my steering wheel can only turn a little to the right and the car still won't start.
Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Thank you for your help.
Best regards,
