steering wheel radio controls on after market cd players???

i'm thinking about purchasing an after market cd player for my clk 200. i want to know if the standard steering wheel controls will still work. thanks

I read somewhere (think it was benzsport) Apparently the steering wheel controls wont work with aftermarket players, unless they've got specific inputs/controls for the volume control.

slicks,Yes it is possible to get an aftermarket player to work and use the steering wheel controls. This year(2003) model alpine are the only ones I know which can have an accessory unit fitted to interface with Merc controls. I have been in contact with Alpine also to see if the centre display on my 2000 CLK430 could also display station name etc, but local Alpine dealer unable to tell me to so far.
