Steering wheel retrofit

Hi,

I was looking for steering column remote controls for the standard stereo on my '99 C220 CDI - whilst searching it became apparent that these controls are located on the steering wheel.

Soooooo ... has anyone retrofitted a later model wheel? I want to retain the airbag (obviously) but other than that I don't mind which model the wheel comes from, as long as everything works ...

So you want to install steering wheel remote controls for your stereo, that doesn't have them at the moment? Is that correct?

From what I recall steering wheel controls use CanBus and a 1999 car doesn't have CanBus.

Yea, I got that impression too .. Ive seen it done but it involved a lot more elastic-trickery than I'd be comfortable with .. manual it is!
