The steering on my E320 (W211) Avantgarde petrol does not self centre while driving at slow speed.
It has done this before and after the steering rack and pump have been changed by DaimlerChrysler UK.
I am now told that this is a characteristic of this model.

Could this be possible?

this is "dealerspeak" and roughly translated means "quick, he looks a bit gullible. Give him the old characteristic excuse because we don't want another warranty claim on our books". Another word for "dealerspeak" is "bo****ks".

Did the steering self centre after the rack had been replaced? If the answer is yes then it's obvious that something is wrong. Your camber and castor angles on the steering geometry can also effect self centering as can tyre wear.

Get everything checked over by an independent steering specialist then go back to your dealer with the above translation :)
