Sticking Speedo W210 E240

I have an W210 E240 and the speedo judders above 30 mph.

Will this require a new instrument unit or is there a quick easy fix??

Mercedes want £450 to fit new one inc labour. Is this fair?

I would apreciate any suggestions!
