I tried my sunroof for the first time since last September today and is very sticky, in tilt mode it was slow to rise fully and when closing it would stick on the passenger side by a few millimeters, needing to be closed by flicking it back up and then down a few times.

Any ideas? Just a lack of use or should something be applied to the mechanism to free it?

Some WD40 on the slide and tilt levers normally works, do it a little at a time, opening and closing as you go, it will soon get back to normal, take care not to get it on the headlining.

Personally I wouldn't use WD40 on a sunroof as it will actually de-grease the mechanism. I'd suggest that a lightweight spray grease would be a far better bet but all the rest is sound advise

I think there's some sort of dry lubricant that Mercedes reccomend. The slide action is completely stuck! Not a problem for me as I don't like my thining hair getting sucked through the gap (!) but its one less feature to sell the car with in the future.

Will it move with the 'manual override' there should be somewhere in the boot that you can get at it easily.

I would work it backwards and forwards to see if that will free it. Don't use to much force though.

When I went into work the other day, they asked why I was wearing a hat? "Because I had my sunroof open"

I know I am 3 months late but I need 7 more posts before I get to choose an Avatar.

Also Silicone spray is what you need for sunroofs and windows lubrication!
