Saw on motoring prog on 5 last week that crooks like to nick yer number plates to put on thier own car & run up huge bills in speeding camera fines and flying up bus lanes.
Prog said it was becoming all too common for people to lose thier plates in particular where they are just stuck on with double sided tape.
To combat this they suggested using non reversible headed screws for fixing back onto cars.
But what happens when someone nudges you & plate has to be removed to fix the problem, we'll have to be replacing plate as well, as it'll have to be removed forcefully & end up in pieces.
Personally, I think that plates should be provided by DVLC with Tax paid stickers attached like USA, and when camera's pick them up, licence can be scanned against registered vehicle to see if its on the right car, but the flaw in this that we will still not know what the cars original owner is or what plate it should rightly have on it.
Any views or advice anyone?
Regards, Keith.
