hi All

Have a 'few' stone chips on my bonnet - very annoying to me everytime I clean the car and its nice and shiney then I notice them!

Any1 recommend how to clean these up or ways to with the correct paint and make it look good not a bodge job!

thanks

Firstly you should build up the paint with a background colour
(i.e. reds or silvers use white first to build it up, or blacks for darker colours)
• Then roll a piece of masking tape to make a very small point on it. NOT A BRUSH! Slowly build up the paint level as it will recess back once it starts drying.
• Once you have it just below the original paint level, touch in your colour slowly, allowing it to build up over the current paint surface, then touch over with lacquer.
• Leave it to dry over night.

Now you can, if your confident and have an electric buffing pad, do the next bit!

• Get warm soapy water and some 800 wet and dry paper and gently rub the touch ups back into the level of the paint.
• Take some G3 compound, wet the bonnet and buff if at the same speed all over, keeping plenty of water on to stop swirls and burn.
• Then get some M3 finesse polish or some autoglym Ultra resin and buff it again without water.

That’s how our body shop do it, and it is a very cost effective way of doing it and looks good, I suggest though trying on a smaller bit first i.e. the bumper skirt or somewhere to get in practice.
