Stop leak for power steering pump

I have a very small leak on the power steering pump of my 69 280SE. The seal on it was changed, but there is still a small leak (half of the reservoir depletes during a month).

As you know, in this type MB, to get the pump out for repair, one has to take out the radiator as well (strange!); so it is not a trivial task.

Someone suggested to use the so-called StopLeak fluid made for this purpose. Any comments?
Regards,
Farid

Tried some on my 12 y.o., 140K Vectra before swapping it for the Merc, didn't work (but may have reduced the leak). But I wasn't that hopeful as it was pouring from the rack seals on full lock, half a reservoir a week (and more if I had to park in confined spaces). This was really last ditch attempt as it's a subframe drop to change the rack on a Vectra - £700 at a dealers and £300 local indie (and the exchange rack was only £60 of that!).

The blurb on this stuff seems to claim it stops leaks by softening old seals, if you've had the seals done it doesn't sound like it would help that much.

The best seal conditioner on the market at the moment is produced by Forte.

You will need to speak nicely to your local corner garage and ask them to supply it as it cannot be bought over the counter

This is their website http://www.forteuk.co.uk/

Cheers

i've seen similar problems on landys in the past. the stopleaks expland the seal as others have said. the problem often is dirt has got in & worn the spindle that goes through the seal so it still leaks even with a new seal.
