S212 E350cdi prefaclift
My 2012MY S212 pre facelift E350cdi came with the wrong owners manual (2013 MY) which is making familiarising myself with it an interesting challenge. Surprising the number of differences, things in different places etc

Im not clear on whether mine has start/ stop which isnt working or if the car just doesnt have it as a feature. Its badged as a Blue Efficiency but I cant tell if that means it would have had start/ stop as standard.

If it does have it , the engine will stop when you stop . There will also be a button with an A with an arrow encircling it

If you dont have a light on the dash which will be amber and change to green, you dont have it.

My 2010 E350CDI 207 had “Blue Efficiency” badges and didn’t have stop/start.

Sold - 2021 CLA 35 Premium.
I had a Ford Focus which was built in early 2012 which had Start/Stop technology, so I would be amazed if Mercedes did not have it at this time.
As others have said if your car does have it there will be a button to disable it.

If you have Stop/Start there will be a button below the Comand unit that says ECO. Also, ECO will be displayed in the cluster on start up, in amber to begin with, then it changes to green when operational.
I would guess your car doesn't have it.

My 2011 E350CDI does not have it, as others have said there is a green light on the dash after start up if you have it.

My 2011 R350CDi doesn't have it (thank god!).
MrsLK's 2018 MINI does have it and as mentioned earlier there is a button with an A in a circular arrow around it. That's a fairly common symbol for start stop.

This is the centre dashboard layout for my S212 E350cdi registered 03/2012 as you can see the ECO button sits with the seat temp controls, most run out 2011MY cars weren’t equipped with Stop/Start

Many thanks all for clarifying. My E350cdi definitely doesnt have it then: no ECO button or symbol and the code is absent in a VIN decode. I was wondering as I've been trying to work out if my fuel consumption around town is normal for the vehicle or heavier than average. Driving through town at night with little traffic I can just hit 30mpg but yesterday in heavy traffic it was below 20mpg which was scary. I've just come from a base spec 3 litre diesel Audi A7 which wasnt as quick as this S212 E350 but was very frugal on fuel, rarely falling below 30mpg in very dense urban traffic.

It was midway. It hadn't gone up from where it normally is on the gauge.

It should sit at about 90 degrees after 10-12 mins driving and stay there . If it’s lower that can explain poor mpg .

I still reckon it’s worth checking on a motorway by resetting the mpg thingy when the engine is hot and driving on cruise for 30 mins . If the mpg is correct then , it’s not the car it’s the city driving

Im trying to decide whether to swap the S212 back for my old car. Its an unexpected situation as the s210 320cdi I had a few years ago was a great experience and I'd been hankering after a later E class 6 cylinder diesel estate, something to get me back in the fold. I'd expected a slightly heavier consumption than the Audi A7 but this is at least 10mpg adrift in like for like driving conditions. A decision to be made.

I”d keep the car a while longer mpg will improve as the weather gets warmer does the engine get up to temperature ie 90 degs fairly quickly this is one of the OM642 strong points and a faulty stat really does drop the mpg on these cars?

That sounds low to me unless it was a very short (<10 miles) trip from a cold start

I get 48mpg over the year in a 2011 E350CDI, but I dont do much city driving. I dont think I have ever seen it under 30 mpg ever.
