Hi guys E250 2013 plate, just taken it back to garage after issue of eco going yellow on display and not stopping/ s they said no fault code and replacement of small battery, ran in with function off for 30 minutes and it restarted on s/stop, now leaving function on I’m back to the same issue, does this battery just slave the main ie the main battery is the issue??

u want it broken... its bad for the planet and you wallet to have it working.

Stop start is designed to wreck the engine and sell new cars. And whilst it does have a huge impact on the planet - its not the way you think.

Using the car normally with it running in traffic will keep the engine warm reducing emissions, will keep the battery charged meaning it all operates correctly, means you can drive in and out of gaps in traffic safety without endangering yourself or other road users, keeps the AC running so the windows are clear so you can see to drive safety, and the tiny amount of fuel used during the car's long life is around 99 tonnes less CO2 than the manufacture intended by fitting start stop ... and you buying another car

My choice is the fact I’ve owned the vehicle 2 weeks with a 6 month warranty, I will more than likely have the option switched off, but if this turns into main battery issues or more I want it fixed rather than a hole in my pocket!!

Still under warranty? Take it back again.

As above, check the voltage of the main battery.
My stop/start doesn't work once the voltage drops below 12.1v

If you have the original battery on a 2013 car its probably time for a new one.
It will be an AGM battery for stop/start.

Unfortunately it’s 50 miles away so was just after feedback, I can take it to a local garage or check it myself as I’m an electrician, and then hopefully I can get them to pay for a new one rather than have to take it back! But obviously this will be at there discretion. do you know if the batteries are in series and therefore the main is dragging the slave down? Obviously having not owned this long I’m not familiar with lot’s of things!

Not in series or parallel. Independent systems where one provides power to the logic and the other provides power for the work.

I assume therefore that the smaller battery is control and main battery is start, but why a cyclic battery for just effectively a logic controller?

I believe its the other way round. The large battery runs all the whole car and the small one is used for start/stop. Start/stop is an "add on".

I suspect when both batteries are charged enough, and the weather and driving conditions fulfill the logic requirements of the systems, it will successfully switch to damaging the engine and the environment like it was designed to

The small battery is sometime more a cpacitor than a battery, ss kicks in when a number of parameters are met, go for a bit of longer drive to get it fully charged up then take it from there.
