Mine didn't show any battery faults but replacing the aux. Battery fixed it! It was 5 years old so offered itself as the first suspect!!

System is very dependant on voltage from both batteries.

Not sure if the car starts it would be starter motor?

I figured it wouldn't be starter as its on the button each time no delays or noises when starting so guess ill have to try find the aux battery and change that see if that does the trick

If the main battery is the original at 8 years old it may need replacing. Put a multimeter across the terminals it should read 12.6V engine off and engine running 14.5V. Most people are starting to see low voltage on the battery due to infrequent use due to the pandemic so if voltage is low and you fall into this category I’d give the battery a charge or make sure it gets a 20 minute run every week. If after a full charge the battery drops to 12.3V it needs changing

There are a number of factors that determine whether the Eco light goes green or not. They include battery charge stat, outside temperature, seatbelts buckled up, minimum speed achieved, electrical load and many more.

My 2011 E220 almost never went into Stop/Start mode -- the Eco light never went green.
I checked both batteries -- both are AGM. The aux battery was perfect and showing almost 14 volts but the main battery was down to just over 12 volts. It still started the engine perfectly.
I charged the main battery a number of times and it did go up to 13+ volts after a long charge but the car still rarely/never went into green Eco light mode.
The battery was the original (I think) -- it certainly had an MB label and the date on the terminal pillar was 2011.

Last April I replaced the main battery (it was almost 9 years old) and the Eco light now goes green almost as soon as I have driven a few hundred metres down the road.
The weather still hasn't been very cold though so it mightn't be as enthusiastic when it gets colder.

Don't fix Stop Strain it's a wrecking ball !
This^^. Having driven the exact route /time / speeds / weather / load / time of day etc with ECO on or off I'm quite confident in saying it makes bugger all difference.

It can get annoying in traffic and the strain of continuously restarting is impossible to ignore. I disable it every time.

Total con.

They measured a miniscule
( every little helps ! ) tiny mpg gain with Stop/ Strain in the same BS mpg way on a lab car treadmill .

In the real world...

Hmmm, not the most objective viewpoint.

The negative impact of stop/start on the engine is anecdotal at best.
Changing the oil frequently and using a top quality brand is more critical in my view.

Stop/start has been independently assessed to improve fuel economy by 8%.
That's significant over the life of the car.

Also, it reduces the emissions in built up areas so it has a positive impact on the environment in locations where exhaust emission levels are at the highest levels.
