the rear AC on my 221 has always been 1.5C hotter on the right side for a given set point...
and I recent events makes me suspect some can bus silliness playing a part

most of the car has had software updates (including the front AC, but the rear never had one available),

now one of two changes this year has affected the imbalance on the rear heater....

1) I was confident it wasn't this one (until today) earlier this year I got an ipod 2 interface kit which goes as loud as the rest of the sources and magically allowed the night vision support on the rear camera to operate again (for the first time in 4 years when I'd had the original "quiet" interface kit in the car). Its not all good news, as the multiple extra wires in the later ipod 2 loom it also needs to operate (I guess somehow fixing the night element) makes the rear camera toggle its display on a bit later and off a fair bit more slowly.

2) And this one is when there was the rear heater changed, as soon as I swapped Mercedes Bluetooth TPMS sensors (for exact clones made by Autel) its somehow changed to the way the car sees the world and magically got the rear AC to come out at the same temp both side for the first time in the five years I've had the car. And has remained matching for 2 months now.

until today... I was using the ipod 2 interface, put it in reverse, the rear camera came on much later that it should have, had a wobble on the image, settled down working normally, but then stayed on for 10 meters longer going forward than normal and "now" the rear heater went to full heat and nothing responds.... unless I select auto on the front controls for the rear heater and it cools down again....

Truly, a feature not a bug.
As Malcolm used to say, if they worked perfectly every time, it’d be boring!

what I noticed when I parked up.... the rear AC controls were totally unresponsive...

today they work normally

was a post years back on USA forum - about a guy with something playing up on the can bus and the dealer had the car for days.... in the end Germany got involved and came up with the fix, replace mk1 ipod kit with the mk2 version

but for me that later "bug fixed" ipod kit seems more random than the early ones... oddly only works if the car's running ("a feature" a USA expert asked me to check, to see it behaved as his did....) but it is much louder and with the secret vol tweak

this is the first car I ever owned where I deliberately leave trim out.... so I can access various elements more easily
