W203 estate c220 cdi 2004 has started to make a strange sound every now and again, only seems to happen at the start of the journey under braking and when coming to a stand still it makes a strange noise? Not quite a clunk and not a metallic sound but a definite sound of some movement from the front left?

I did recently take the brakes off to re copper slip them as they were squealing? MB Stoke have just done the Castor bushes so you'd hope thats not it, and just had a full service MB Tech Warrington which is no guarantee that something can go wrong aftewards though?

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Thanks in advance:)

mine would give a slight kick just as i came to a stop & the noise was the ABS pump running for a sec or two ...that's why i asked as you have the sensors at the wheels

See attached, number 90 highlighted in blue, put the steering on full lock left or right and hit that strut with the side of your fist, the sound will be heard and thats your problem.

If it is that strut would it be that part just highlight as it looks like a fancy version on a lower anti roll bar to me or do the inserts come with it?

Any idea of cost?? Thx for the advice I had a feeling it was roll bar related, will have to investigate.

Had a quick play today and gave the lower suspension arm a bang seemed solid, anti roll bar seemed ok no slpit rubber and seemed solid, but the upper suspension arm (the alloys arm) either side when I banged it gave a sound off it not as loud as when driving but I can't emulate 2 ton of force can I lol Any way when I grabbed it and gave it a shake I could physically move each one 2-3 mm either way, is that normal?

Saying that had the windows down today and it seems the noise is coming more from underneath would this indicate torsion bar bushes? How difficult are they to change? looking at that exploded digram not to bad but sure its a pain.
