Strange engine noise.

Hi,

My 380 SEC's engine started to make a very strange noise in one of the cylider banks. It souds like someone installed an old VW Beetle's engine.

At first I thought it was a spark plug that did not get any spark, but this was ruled out.

The next thing that comes to mind, is a noisy tapped, but could this be it? And what does it sound like? How can I test for this? It is rather loud and I am getting concerned about this. There is a sort of "tick" sound that goes along with it.

I am not sure if this is related, but I have added some injector cleaner and a tank later some octane booster/ carbon cleaner to the petrol.

The car has done 240 000 km's.

Any help would be greately appreciated.

This turned out to be a hole in one of the down pipes just after the exhaust manifold. At the time I wrote the previous message, the hole was very small and it would seem that the firewall reflected the sound in such a way that it seemed to eminate from the cylinder head/tapped cover.

60 Pounds is a lot cheaper than any of the other possible faults that have been haunting me...
