Strange flashing light

This may not be a problem but I have only just noticed that in the middle of the two-way switch on the dashboard of my C270 (W203) that is used to disable the motion sensor when the car is being towed or if you have left the kids inside(!) there is a flashing red LED. I only thought this flashed when the switch had been activated but it now appears to flash whenever the car is locked.

Any thoughts? Or is it just me not paying attention and this thing always flashes?

Thanks Malcolm, I must pay more attention in future. I swear I have never seen it flashing before
